Goals, setting and achieving them

"Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it’s who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment."    Anthony Robbins         Motivational speaker and management consultant

Goal setting is something I do with my clients right from the beginning.  We don't just talk about how much weight they're going to release, but also other learning / creativity goals.  Goals that are going to get them closer to their big dreams.  So this quote really speaks to me.  I've seen myself set goals and by the time I've gotten there I know I'm a different person just for making the journey.

From Sparkpeople - more things to consider about goals.  Was there a time when you thought you couldn't do it? This is a natural reaction when things get tough. It's easier to find ways to justify your actions than to get over the hurdle. This week, eliminate the hurdles and barriers you've created. If you find yourself saying, "I can't" or "I don't have time," then re-analyze your goal. If you really want to achieve it, then make the time or take a different approach (get up earlier, stay organized, learn the skills). Find time for you and your goals.
