Neglect and avoidance
Sorry this is late. I am right into long weekend mode. Oh well - I'll be out on the deck having a cup of tea shortly. Aah summer.
Do you crave chocolate? And because you are trying to be healthier you avoid it. We need to remember that a healthy lifestyle is all about balance. So neglecting our body means we can't honor it. Neglecting our body includes not being active and in order to be active and have the energy we need to get through our busy days we need to eat well. The next months and years are filled with hard work that takes energy and action. If you're starving your body, depriving it of what it needs, you're sabotaging yourself as you work for your dreams. When you constantly fill your body with garbage, don't expect much in return. We've heard so many bad things about different foods, it's almost as if food is our enemy, one that can kill us or ruin our lives. Truth is, food--good food--is the thing that makes everything else possible. Would you agree? It took me a long time to wrap my head around this. I think I knew this, it was just easier to avoid the issue and deny that what I was doing wasn't working.
This is a huge topic and I've only touched on food and activity, but neglecting our creative side, our personal time and space play a part in a healthier lifestyle too. I believe women don't focus on these areas nearly enough in their lives. But I think a connection to self begins with honoring our body, the fuel that goes into and the movement that makes it feel alive and energized. It's a great time to start!
