Spring unlocks the flowers to paint the laughing soil. Reginal Heber

What a lovely gardening quote.  We have had our share of rain and now everything is taking off full speed ahead.  I am really working on the idea of being, which is difficult to practice in the garden this time of year as the plants need planting and the weeds need weeding.  So my challenge is to see the opportunity for stillness in all situations.

It was a lesson in patience to sit inside and BE while it rained.  To marvel at all that the rain was and wasn't.  It wasn't allowing me to plant and go to work.  One thing I learned from A New Earth is the idea of Acceptance.  That it simply was that way and I couldn't change it.  Accepting it was very freeing.  Of course there was much relief as the sun started to shine!  The rain was great for the plants and even though everything slowed down I could almost hear the earth drinking up the moisture.  Like Gentry says we are always one day from drought here in Southern Alberta.

It was a weekend of shifts and changes.
I finished work at the Homestead garden.
I celebrated my 40th birthday with many friends and family.  I'm very grateful to Gentry for taking the time to contact the special people so they could be with me.
Today I start my new job and am blessed to feel so loved and supported in all that I do.

Here is to: rain, 40th birthdays and the courage to embrace everything as a chance to grow and learn.
