Fibre and Gum related to snacking - how you say?

First I'll remind you of why you should be increasing your fibre intake then I'll reveal how fibre and gum are related.
Women who up their fibre intake by 14 grams a day may lose a pound a month USDA researchers found.  More fibre can help you avoid constipation and its accompanying gasiness and bloating.  Another way to avoid bloating is to avoid dried fruits like apricots or plums because they are high in fructose, a sugar that causes gas as it breaks down in your digestive system.

A RealAge Tip referring to Fibre
Feed Yourself This for a Flatter Belly

When dieters traded their usual refined-grain carbs (like white rice or plain bagels) for whole-grain products (like whole-wheat bread or spelt pasta), they lost even more belly fat.

Strive for Five
Dieters mistakenly believe they have to pass on carbs. But low-cal dieters in a recent study ate as many as five daily servings of whole grains -- and still lost weight.

What's In a Grain?
The belly-blasting benefits are likely due to the fabulous fill-you-up-without-fattening-you-up fibre that most whole grains have. Whole grains also hook you up with important trace minerals, like magnesium, as well as phytoestrogens and antioxidants.

Another way to ward off the munchies besides eating more fibre - from RealAge Tip

You could beat a food craving just by chewing a little of this: gum.

That's right. A study found that chewing gum can really put the kibosh on your afternoon appetite in a big way.

Countering the Snack Attack
People who chew either sweetened or sugar-free gum after lunch feel full longer, have fewer hunger pangs, have fewer cravings for sweets, and eat fewer afternoon snacks -- compared with people who don't chew gum.

Tickled Taste Buds Signal "Full"

How does chomping gum suppress hunger? It's simple. When you eat, your taste buds are stimulated by the food. But the cool thing is that exposure to the tastes and smells of food also lessens how good it tastes. That, in turn, is one of the cues that signal your brain that you're full, so cravings go away. Chewing gum may have this same effect -- but without all the calories!
