Purpose

"Purpose is what gives life a meaning."  C.H. Parkhurst

Some days we are just going through the motions of day-to-day living.  But like the SparkPeople comment below says, do you know what drives you, gets you up in the morning?   A love of your job or at least a love of your family are all part of purpose.  Sometimes there is a little voice asking for something - some time to be creative, or to consider that calling you ignore because the bills need paying.  With my clients we work on something called the Absolute Yes list.  The list is not original to me and I don't remember where I read about it.  I find it very powerful enough that I still revisit my list monthly.  It's a great way to stay focused on the people and activities that really matter and help you towards those bigger goals.  What the YES list allows you is the ability to say No when requests don't fall within the items on the YES list. You can only have 5 YESs or you'd never say No.  I find this allows us to be a solution and gain back our personal power and not have someone else running our lives.  With this power we can change and transform ourselves and our lives just as we choose, just like the quote says!

FROM SPARKPEOPLE this is just another way of saying the above:  Have you ever thought about the power of having a purpose? Everyone needs something that gets them moving in the morning, keeps them going through the day, and makes them continue to work toward a goal. Take some time to think about the activities you are involved in and how they relate to your personal purpose. For the activities that don't serve your purpose, ask yourself why you continue with them. Perhaps you need to reevaluate your commitments and renew your conviction toward your purpose.

More Quotes on Purpose:
"Your purpose explains what you are doing with your life.  Your vision explains how you are living your purpose.  Your goals enable you to realize your vision."  Bob Proctor  My question to you is - how clear are all 3 of these for you?

"I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be honorable; to be compassionate.  It is, after all, to matter: to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all."  Leo C. Rosten

So if anybody wants to talk about their purpose, their vision or their goals, let me know.  I am finally feeling comfortable that I am clear on my purpose and now I am patiently coming into my vision - one small step (aka goal) at a time.
