I am the retreat

As most of you know I have a goal to open a Garden Retreat called Dragonflies and Daisies.  As I was reflecting at the beginning of January as you do, I suddenly thought - what are my obstacles for opening the retreat?  The 2 most obvious obstacles are that I don't have enough money or a location to start one.  Now I know there are ways of getting the money I need and I am always on the lookout for a location - when a garden is involved obviously I need a good sized piece of land.  Then I realized there is still one thing holding me back.  Confidence.  I think I've always felt that without the "perfect" location I couldn't begin.  I remembered what my Reiki Master said to me at my last session.  She said "You are the retreat."  And I've held onto that thought not really knowing what it meant.  And as I was working through these obstacles it occurred to me that I must proceed, all good excuses aside, in becoming that retreat.

Now I am taking few steps to creating this vision.  I am creating and teaching a one-day workshop in April based on my favorite book "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron.  It is going to run at the High River library.  I'm very excited and scared.  A one-day workshop is so much more than any I've done before.  But the topic of living creatively is so important to me that it has to be done, fear or not.

Next I am planning my first event in my back yard for June based on the "I am the Retreat" idea.  And right now I don't know what that looks like.  The one question I had was - what does me as a retreat look like?  I assume it has something to do with what I know.  And then I wondered if I could ask you - if you were coming to spend 4 hours with me in my backyard what would you like to know / do?  So I think as I continue blogging I will continue to develop the concept with your help.  I am even going to mention it on my Facebook My Life Blossoms group discussion page.

What I think I'm learning from all of this is to always be checking in on that vision you have.  Just because you have one doesn't mean you then sit back and wait for it to happen.  Guess what - nothing is going to happen!  You have to then break that vision down into manageable chunks and start working on those smaller steps.  And for me I have had to get really clear on the Garden Retreat idea.  I had to start with My Life Blossoms and build from there.  I feel closer than ever with all of the talks I'm giving and even the work and dedication to my cutting garden and flower cart.  As I keep honoring who I am I know the vision will one day be a reality.  I hope that inspires you to get clear with your vision and purpose in life so you can start down that road to a fulfilling life.
